This is a great book for anyone who enjoys ancient Chinese military doctrine, or any military doctrine publications for that matter. It gives several works that are not generally advertised along side of typical mainstream publications. I definitely recommend this book.

The Seven Military Classics of Ancient China are a must-read for any person interested in the military. Ralph Sawyer's translation is very readable and his historical introductions and extensive commentary is extremely useful.

Ralph D. Sawyer, one of America’s leading scholars in Chinese warfare, has worked extensively with major intelligence and defense agencies. After studying at MIT and Harvard and a brief stint of university teaching, Sawyer has spent the past thirty years lecturing and doing international consulting work focused on China.
