About the author (2011)

John Quarstein is the Director of Newport News Museums and a consultant for numerous other museums. During his career, he has started or revitalized 15 museums. He is the Historian for the Monitor Project at The Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia. Quarstein has published numerous books, including "A History of Ironclads," "Monitor Boys," "The CSS Virginia" and "Big Bethel.
