Some types of process flexibility traditionally assumed to improve inventory efficiency in manufacturing organizations were found not to do so in U.S. wineries. Though wineries consider process flexibility important, just behind product quality and supply dependability, and ahead of product cost and total volume, wineries do not appear to be using process flexibility to improve the efficiencies of their inventories.
