Good Morning AfghanistanA case of food poisoning kept Waseem Mahmood off American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Following the horrific attacks of that day, the ensuing invasion of Afghanistan, and the fall of the Taliban, Mahmood felt compelled to ensure that the events on the ground in the country were broadcast to Aghanis and the world beyond. Headed by Mahmood, a group of local and foreign journalists responded to the events by producing a radio program based in Kabul to disseminate much-needed information. Told with searing honesty, humor, and pathos, this is a story of struggle and courage in the face of war and strife. |
