Once again a Keane novel has shocked and surprised me. I didn't see this ending coming at all. As usual, the characters are more than a little off and some are down right disturbing, but Keane writes will a wit and style that makes the characters' peculiarities seem almost commonplace. About the author (1988)

Molly Keane was born Mary Nesta Skrine in County Kildare, Ireland on July 4, 1904. She wrote under the pseudonym M. J. Farrell. Keane wrote about Anglo-Irish society in her 1928 novel, Young Entry. Her play, Spring Meeting, was a hit in London and New York. Keane stopped writing until 1981, when she published Good Behaviour which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Molly Keane died on April 22, 1996 in Armore County, Waterford, Ireland.
