Great Guide for Northwest Pennsylvania HikesUser Review - Overstock.com
Another terrific Pennsylvania hikers' guide from the prolific Jeff Mitchell, who obviously enjoys hiking and has actually walked all the trails he talks about. Each trail description includes all the information one could want, from getting there to potential bivouac spots to highlights of the walk. In addition to Allegheny National Forest proper, the guide also includes hikes in adjacent state parks and forests. Only two complaints (which persist in the series): the well-drawn, though sometimes small, non-topographic maps lack mileage scales, so it's hard to estimate point-to-point distances on the trip. And the book lacks an index. A great addition to the libraries of northeastern hikers. ...
