I fail to see why Kael is so revered as movie reviewer. Perhaps it's the sometimes caustic wit or her blunt pronouncements, not what one expects of a proper woman in her day. But that implies she is wonderful as a talking dog would be. She speaks as women aren't supposed to speak. Read full review

Kael has a great natural prose and a great eye for films. I was dismayed that she panned some of my faves (Crimes and Misdemeanors), but she also makes you want to see films you may have written off (Casualties sof War, The Tall Guy). Read full review
