Everybody knows Pablo Picasso’s name, but nobody really knows who he is. Who was Pablo Picasso by True Kelley is an excellent nonfiction biography that not only teaches about Picasso’s life, but demonstrates to readers how to work hard, be creative, and be yourself. To begin, Pablo Picasso’s will to never abandon his passion has shown the importance of working hard. Before Picasso became famous, he had to live in a small apartment without furniture, little money for art supplies, and sometimes the temperature plummeted so low that left over cups of tea froze during the night. But these setbacks and hardships never stopped Picasso from realizing his dreams, and his determination to succeed led him to becoming one of the most recognizable names in history. Furthermore, Pablo Picasso’s imaginative and fanciful way of thinking has taught the world to be creative, original, and has revolutionized ways to show feelings in art. Throughout his career, Pablo invented many new art styles such as cubism, which led to the revolution of modern art. Finally, Pablo has shown throughout his entire life why it is important to be yourself. In the beginning of Pablo’s art career, many people criticized how bizarre and abnormal all of the his pictures appeared. Some even called his work ugly. But all of these negative comments never stopped Picasso. He continued to work hard through all of the criticism and became the most famous artist to ever live.
