A treatment of the apocryphal text and especially the Story of the Three Youths incorporated into it, which Talshir, who is not identified, argues is the reason First Esdras was composed in the first place. Beginning with the extant Greek text, he attempts to retrieve the lost Hebrew-Aramaic version. In the commentary, he finds parallels elsewhere in contemporary sources, especially from Qumran. He offers no English translation of the text. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
