About the author (2003)

Pam Flowers and her team ran the Iditarod, mushed to the Magnetic North Pole, and made a 2,500-mile trans-arctic expedition. Her account of that journey is chronicled in Alone Across the Arctic (page 79).

Alaskan author Ann Dixon has written several children's books, including Blueberry Shoe (page 36) and Winter Is (page 36.) With Pam, she coauthored Alone Across The Arctic.

BILL FARNSWORTH is the illustrator of more than fifty children's books. His work includes images for the Kaya books in the American Girl Series, and he has received numerous awards and honors, including Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People, American Bookseller Pick of the Lists, and selection for the Society of Illustrator's Original Art Show. Farnsworth's warmly-lit oil paintings gracefully illuminate the Maine landscape andSockalexis's days on the baseball diamond. Farnsworth lives with his family in Venice, Florida.
