About the author (1987)

Anmarie Barrie, an author and attorney, was born on July 30, 1959. In 1986, while she was a law student at Seton Hall School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, she began to write books for children to finance her law school education. In 1989 she graduated from law school, More than twenty-five books later, she continues to write pet guides for children and adults. She has written a series for young readers including stories about her favorite pets-cockatiels, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, and canaries. Barrie wrote As a New Pet; Beginners Guide, and For Those Who Care. Barrie has also written books on aquariums, ponds, and koi. Her books for older readers include Guide to Owning a Chinchilla and Guide to Owning a Cockatiel. Barnie used her legal background in writing Dogs and the Law and Cats and the Law. Barrie practices law in Neptune, New Jersey.
