He has been instrumental in establishing standards for responsible herpetoculture and was the primary author of the AFH guidelines for the responsible keeping of large boas, pythons, and monitor lizards. He was also the co-founder and president of the American Federation of Herpetoculturists. Philippe is the publisher of the highly acclaimed herpetocultural magazine, The Vivarium.
