Yergin provides an exhilarating and meticulous account of the history of the world's oil industry. Energy is the power that drives our lives and more pointedly is the fuel which lends exponential powers to the so-called "contemporary man". Oil, being the focal point of the modern energy industry, naturally takes the center stage in the Prize. I recommend this book to energy industry professionals, to students modern or industrial history, and to those who seek page-turning thrill.

The best chronology I ever read about Oil Industry. This is version 2008 and updated until that year. By today March 2013 the F racking Industry has changed the Oil world map again

I slogged through this. Quite dry at times, with a sometimes confusing roster of people and countries, but overall very interesting and important to know - glad I have some background.
