She is a professional genealogist and former reference librarian at the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston. Marcia is also the author of the Weekend Genealogist. She lives in Rowley, Massachusetts.

About the author (2002)

Melnyk is a genealogist, lecturer, instructor, and author. She has lectured on all aspects of genealogical research, from beginner to advanced levels, for nearly ten years. She is the creator and instructor of the New England Historic Genealogical Society's "Genealogy 101" course and president of the Italian Genealogical Society of America, Inc.
