Brilliant book from a great scholar, professor Ahmad Kamyabi Mask. Kamyabi Mask is an eminent scholar of French Avant-garde theatre and an associate of some of the greatest playwrights of the second half of the twentieth century including Ionesco, Beckett, Arrabal and Beizai among others.
He has one essay on Beckett's Waiting for Godot which essay might be the finest work of research about this masterpiece. Kamyabi's numerous publications in French (and occasionally in Persian) are highly influential and historically informed. He is also a prolific translator and also a playwright, director and briefly an actor.
Kamyabi's disputes with Esslin are memorable instances of the compelling energy and historical awareness of the former's arguments against the colonial title offered by the latter to name the Avant-garde theatre in France.
