Life is too short to finish books that irritate you. I think the subtitle is to blame here. A more accurate subtitle would have been "COLOR: Stories About the Stories We Tell About Colors". Of course, if that were the subtitle, I never would have picked it up, but someone else might have. Read full review

Oh, this book had so much promise! And yet, it fell flat... I was expecting to read more of a history book, but it turned out to be a travelogue/memoir, and a tad too self-involved for my tastes. Moreover, the author does a lot of "imagining" for a work of non-fiction. Damn. Read full review

Each chapter tells the story of how the color is "created." For example, carmine red, which is found in Cherry Coke, is made with the blood of insects. This is a book that is almost impossible to put down. Fascinating. Read full review
