Anyone in science or engineering fields will benefit from learning LaTeX, and Lamport's book is the quintessential reference. Documents look much more professional than those made with Word, Pages, etc. I was compelled to write this review because someone from Goodreads says the manual is good but the system is "overrated" ... that might be true if you only ever put words into a document. But it is far from overrated for anyone who uses equations, chemical reactions, figures, tables, references, etc on a regular basis (and is the standard way for producing documents in math and science fields).

The definitive guide to the document system, done by the creator (based on the underlying TeX program by Donald Knuth). Read full review
