Page 3 - The primary design of the work is to present a portrait album of the leaders in the various walks of life and of their contemporaries, business associates and friends, for the use of the present generation and to preserve for future generations the features and characters of men upon whom the destiny of the State of Minnesota depends.

Two full days' time were devoted to the preparation of each sixteen page form for the press, and, taken in its entirety, the work is a model of typographical beauty and of mental and mechanical ingenuity and perfection.
