I read this book to my class of 6-7 year olds. They loved it! So did I. Fun, excellent setting and loveable characters. Fun and laughter all the way. Read full review

The worst witch books were my favourite when I was in infant school. I'd walk to school reading them with my mum steering me in the right direction. Read full review

About the author (1988)

Jill Murphy's first story about the Large Family, FIVE MINUTES' PEACE, received the PARENTS Best Book for Babies Award and was declared "painfully funny" by THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW. Three more Large Family titles followed, including A PIECE OF CAKE and A QUIET NIGHT IN. Families around the world seem to recognize more than a bit of themselves in these ebullient and down-to-earth elephants. SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL calls their world "instantly recognizable as true to life," and it's easy to see why!
