A Claim of Her Own (Google eBook)
It's 1876, and 20-year-old Mattie Flynn is determined to make a fresh start after fleeing from her sinister boss in the gambling house where she was employed as a singer. Mattie travels to Deadwood, South Dakota, in search of her younger brother, who went ahead of her in hopes of making a fortune in the gold mines.
All Mattie wants is a safe and respectable life for the two of them, but that doesn't seem to be her destiny as she faces more heartache and trials. Will the suspicious bottles of gold dust from her brother's claim be the key to her future...or does the handsome street preacher, who is always turning the other cheek, truly hold the answers to her deepest longings?

Strong Women, Strong Savior, Strong StoryUser Review - Christianbook.com
After some initial confusion over the gender of oxen-driver, Swede, I thoroughly enjoyed this story of two strong women facing the hard life of pioneering Deadwood, complete with brief appearances by Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane! I loved the gentle character of 'preacher' Aron, who was Christ to all he met, regardless of how rough the character, eventually winning the soul of Mattie for Christ, The vivid description of the consequences of evil in a corrupt heart is striking, as is the effects of a smallpox epidemic in the dangerous days before modern medicine. "A Claim of Her Own" is a strong story of strong women in need of a strong Savior, softened by parallel gentle romances for both the heroines. It all works together to make a very enjoyable, inspiring read, which I recommend to lovers of historical romance.
