Perfectly acceptable contemporary romance with a bit of a mystery/suspense plot thrown in. As usual with JAK the characters were likable and the dialogue was good. I enjoyed the book for the most part and probably would give 4*s except for two things. One is silly but it did hinder my enjoyment - the hero's name is Max Fortune. Really? I kept flashing to the Simpson's episode where Homer changes his name to Max Power because he decides what's holding him back from success is the name Homer Simpson. The second thing is a bit of a spoiler JAK really likes her "surprise" virgins where the hero isn't aware until they're having sex. It doesn't bother me too much in her AQ novels where it's historical so I'm pretty much expecting virginity. When it's in a contemporary with adult characters it always smacks to me of the hero "deserving" a virgin to help him heal.. So anyway, those things bugged me, if they don't bug you it's a decent read.
