Arte argentino: cuatro siglos de historia (1600-2000)Historian and critic López Anaya presents a comprehensive and updated version of the history of art in Argentina from the colonial period to the 21st century, covering the imaginario colonial painters, the academic, the romantic foreign artists, the Centennial nationalism, the critical art, the painters from Boca, muralism, the Spanish exiled in Buenos Aires, the constructivism, conceptualism and political art of the 1970's. The final chapters describe the current artistic trends: the new painting as reflection of violence, identity and genre, the kitsch and the new technological media like video art and video installations.
