A place to start I guess if you are interested in your family tree but, like most sources, content can't be taken as absolute fact. I found my Great Grandfather listed but some of the "facts" about his first wife and possible year he came to America are not correct. He, his first wife, and their daughter are on the UK 1861 census. Only he and the daughter appear on the US 1870 census.. the book lists the death date for the first wife as 1861 in Calumet which contradicts the memorial stone to her in the family plot.. which gives 1870 as the death date. So far no death record for her has surfaced on either side of the Atlantic .. she possibly died at sea since there is no grave. Further .. three US census forms list three different dates of emigration for my great grandfather .. NONE are 1861 as listed in this book but one is 1870 which is more likely the date he came since he was living in a boarding house at that time. I don't know where this book got its initial information but those are fairly gross errors.
