He died Nov. 27. 1869. in Louisville, Ky. Nicholas, Wilson Cary, soldier, congressman, United States senator, governor, was born about 1757 in Hanover, Va. He was governor of Virginia; was an officer in the war of the revolution; and a member of the convention which ratified the constitution of the United States. In 1799-1805 he was United States senator; and in 189711 he was a representative from Virginia to the tenth and eleventh congresses. In 1814 he was the eleventh governor of Virginia. He died Oct. 10. 1820, in Milton, Ohio. Nicholl, Horace Wadham, musician, com poser, was born March 17, 1848, in England. Since 1883 he has been a regular reader of music proofs for G. Schrimer of New York City. He is the author of Fantasie on Psalm CXXX; and a symphonic poem entitled Life. Nicholl, James Criig, painter, artist, was born Nov. 22, 1846, in New York City. He was the founder, for ten years secretary and is now president of the American water color society of New York City. He has received numerous awards at various American and foreign art exhibitions. Nic I oils, Charles Wilbur de Lyon, clergyman, philanthropist, author, was born Dec. 17, 1854, in Nichols. Conn. In 1888 he was ordained priest; and has been vicar of St. Thomas church of New Haven, Conn.; and rector of St. Stephen's church on Staten Island, N.Y. He is now engaged in philanthropistic work among the tenement house children of New York City. He is the author of The Greek Madonna; Decadents; and the Ultra-Fashionable Peerage of America.
