I find that when it comes to Jules Verne, you either have patience and like numbers and Verne, or you don't. Personally, I found From the Earth to the Moon to be your standard Verne at the same time amusing as it explores the idea of how to send something to the moon with a cannon as opposed to a rocket. Though the plot of this book is rather shallow (namely, how do we get to the moon?) it makes for a fun idea once you get past all the numbers. I mean, from a guy's perspective at least, wouldn't it be crazy and fun to see a 900ft long cannon go off?
