Review: Pride and Prejudice

Editorial Review -

( The Jane Austen Book Club) Pride and Prejudice was originally entitled First Impressions. It was written between 1796 and 1797, and heavily revised before its publication in 1813. It is the most famous of the novels. Austen herself characterized it as "rather too light and bright, and sparkling," suggesting it needed some "solemn specious nonsense" for contrast. My all time favorite!!!! I have read this book at least 7 times and will continue to read. The chemistry between Darcy and Lizzy is electric! All of the characters are fully developed. In my opinion the best romance book ever written. I love all of Jane Austen's books, but Pride & Prejudice is hands down my favorite. A book as the title states, about pride and prejudice's in Victorian English society. When the business of a women was making a good match in marriage(and by good match: a proper gentleman with 4 or 5 thousand a year)this is a delightfull story of how class distinction can fade away in the face of pure and sometimes unexpected love!!!! Pride & Prejudice, a comfy chaise lounge and a steaming cup of tea!!!! Wonderfull way to spend an afternoon!!

an awesum book.................dont read the unabridged version though(if u r impatient) Jane Austen can meander a bit. However the abidged version everyone should try...............i know that it is the age of bestsellers but classics should be given a try too.
