Wire mesh mothers
Elementary school teacher Kate McDolen spirits eight-year-old student Mistie away from her abusive parents. While driving to a new life for both of them, Kate and Mistie are carjacked by Tony, a dangerous girl who doesn't admire anything except violence and cruelty. This was my first book by Elizabeth Massie. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end, so I will be looking for more books by this author. How scary it would be to come in contact with someone as disturbed as Tony! It was also a bit sad at times to read about her because I have to wonder if someone like this would have turned out better if she had a better upbringing (i.e., better parents). Mistie's story was very sad. It's amazing how screwed up parents can mess up a child's life as they did for these two characters.

Scary demented ride. Great read.
