1903. This book is one of the series entitled the Oxford Library of Practical Theology. The author trusts that this book will be found to contains nothing new, modern or original. It has been his first aim to state as simply and definitely as possible the teaching of Holy Scripture on this great subject. And in the effort, both to discover and to apply that teaching, he has endeavored to follow the guidance of the Universal Church.
