Wonderful and insightful

Carter possibly the worst president ever.
Its no surprise that what he failed to do in his candency he still fails to do in his writings, if there's a person who fails to understand the arab-israeli
conflict at such a primitive level aside from Obama it would be carter. The person who was by far the worst thing for the world if not for Israel and the whole definition of peace.

This was a very educational and interesting book for me. I consider myself fairly educated on world politics but, am ignorant of a great deal of what goes on in the middle east. This book provides an interesting perspective into the instances in modern politics that are shaping Isreal and its neighbors.

Can anyone expect an HONEST opinion from a president who has admitted to accepting tens of millions of dollars from Muslim princes? Everyone has their price.
One of the WORST presidents in
American history. His opinion and policies were WRONG and terribly mis-informed when he was president and they are THE SAME GARBAGE today...

Another excellent book by Jimmy Carter. Thought provoking - raises important points that need to be discussed and thought about. I am Jewish and find the book very even handed in its treatement of the issues.

The peanut-farming ex-president discusses why the Middle East peace process has broken down. He explores the entire history of the region know as Palestine from 1948 (founding of the modern state of Israel) to the present (late 2006). President Carter, while he asserts there's plenty of blame to go around for the current intifada (uprising), he seems to be more sympathetic to the Palestinians than to the Jews. He feels the current Israeli policy of building walls to imprison Palestinian Arabs and segregate them from Jewish society, in addition to the ongoing building of Jewish settlements in occupied territories (against international law), is fueling anti-Jewish and anti-American sentiment across the entire Middle East region. The book is an easy read, written simply so that everyone can understand foreign policy in everyman's terms. It is a book that will make you rethink the current situation in Palestine, and is sure to spark debate on when (or if) man-made peace will ever be realized.
