This book is very hard to review. There were parts I really enjoyed but a lot of the book really dragged. I feel like there was a lot of things I didn't understand, a lot of underlying messages that weren't very clear. I liked the story about the author & his son. I liked some of his Chautauqua's, but many of them were hard to follow. I can't really recommend it. But what do I know. It was a huge seller & has a cult like following. There is probably something there I just don't happen to see it.

Deeply philosophical, this is one to pick up when you're in a seriously reflective mindset. Pirsig makes connections between the mundane and the profound while trying to connect emotionally with his young son. It's variously approachable and obscure and I've reread it twice, now. Read full review

A challenging book for sure. Philosophy side by side with the tale of a motorcycle ride. I enjoyed the book but expect most won't. Read full review

Read it as a course requirement in college years ago. Didn't much care for it. The low point of a great class title Philosophy and Technology. He wasn't very Zen and didn't seem to much care about his son who went along for the ride. Read full review

Great concept. Original, without a doubt. A classic, they say, I know. But truth be told it wears you down after about 20 pages. Went on and on and on. I can see why people think it's pretentious. Tested my patience. I hope that wasn't the point. Read full review
