Accessing human services: international perspectives
Risha W. Levinson, Karen S. Haynes
Sage Publications, 1984 - Business & Economics - 320 pages
Accessing Human Services aims to familiarize the reader with the organized access systems that provide linkages to social and human services in selected countries. The book offers a general description of access systems and presents a comparative analysis of two basic models -- the British CAB (Citizens Advice Bureau) and the American I&R (Information and Referral). A report is included on countries that employ the CAB or the I&R models, and on countries where aspects of both models are used, together with variations that are unique to that particular country. Nine countries are examined, and various dimensions of access systems explored -- historical development, organizational auspices, service delivery, agency resources, and future directions. This cross-national report of access systems reveals both the common elements and the diversities of such systems.
