Running on Third Wind
This book explores the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of running as a fitness activity and as sport. The author has been writing a monthly column for National Masters News since 1980 and has selected 72 of those columns for this book. He begins with some history of the sport, then follows with columns on physiological and philosophical concerns, training considerations, aging factors, ego conflicts, and race management issues. He interviews 25 legendary runners and reports on his own experiences over 50 years of running and 40 years of writing about the sport in various national publications.
