I meet many people, as it happens (twenty-six meetings, debates, conferences, ect., in the past five months) and I receive thousand of letters. In my replies, whether verbal or written, I maintain a laconic attitude which does not profoundly engage me, an attitude that is, in some respect, only an acknowledgment. I don't want to establish genuine ties with those who approach me: I have' the time, the means, or the right.
