Very well-researched and well-written, with lots of references. However, there is one glaring problem. The history of English weights and measures is pretty well documented going back to about 1300 (plus or minus 50 years). Before that there is so much that we just don't know. Connor fills in the gaps with conjectures, only he doesn't present them as conjectures. Instead he presents them as the most reasonable explanation. On the other hand, so few serious books have been written on this subject that I would still recommend this book.
