Simple, safe and highly effective, it's not surprising that massage has now become one of the most popular ways of relieving tension and anxiety. Body massage is not only relaxing and enjoyable, but it also has many health benefits including better blood circulation and lymph drainage, improved mobility and flexibility of joints and tendons, healthier skin and a greater sense of physical and emotional well-being. Body Massage is packed with information, advice, tips and techniques on how to massage the legs, arms, stomach and chest, as well as the classic tension-storing areas of the neck, shoulders and back. The focus is on these specific trouble spots, with tips and advice on stress busting and step-by-step stretching routines to help keep muscles relaxed and joints supple and flexible. Each of the massage techniques are illustrated with step-by-step photographs and accompanied by easy-to-follow instructions. As well as self-massage techniques, the book also covers how to adapt your techniques to make the massage suitable for practicing on babies, children, the pregnant and the elderly. In addition, the properties of the different creams and oils that can be used and their various health- and well-being-promoting benefits are fully explained. This comprehensive and accessible guide to the gentle but effective art of massage is the ideal introduction for anyone who wants to practice on themselves or friends and family. It is also a useful companion for health professionals wishing to give patients a caring touch.
