I like this study of Dunkirk with its many first hand reports. What caught me the most about this history is how much the success of the evacuation owed to "muddling through" and luck. Read full review

About the author (1983)

Walter Lord is the author of several best-selling works of history, including "A Night to Remember", the recreation of the sinking of the Titanic. He lives in New York City.
