Review: Catherine the Great

User Review  - Ivaylo Yorgov - Goodreads

A fantastic book! Can't comment on the correctness of the interpretation and the historical facts; what I can say is Troyat writes brilliantly. All events and people in the book are so alive. A book which makes you remember everything you've read and want to read more on the subject. Read full review

Review: Catherine the Great

User Review  - Karen Cox - Goodreads

I read this back in '91, right after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Among other things, it describes Catherine's capture of the Crimea and her settlement of Russians in the area. Read it as important background to the current events in Ukraine. Read full review
