A useful book to those who are new to the writing game and want a single book that encompasses the basics of each avenue of writing. For the more seasoned writer, it's quite a dull read and the sports metaphors that run rampant through out are extremely irritating. Read full review

About the author (2009)

PHILIP K. JASON is Professor Emeritus of English, United States Naval Academy and Director of the Naples Center Writing Program at Florida Gulf Coast University. He is the author of numerous books, including the Encyclopedia of American War Literature (2001).
