About the author

Brothers John and Mark Bieter were born and raised in Boise, Idaho. John is a contributor to Portraits of Basques in the New World and is director of the Cenarrusa Center, an academic and cultural institute in Boise.

Mark Bieter was a Washington, D.C., correspondent for Basque National Radio and was active in the American-Basque Foundation. He recently completed a law degree at Duke University and currently lives and works in Washington, D.C.
