A little boy Owen and his dog Sheepie are best friends, but Sheepie is getting old and less active everyday. One day Owen goes out to the tree that Sheepie is lying under and pets him, but Sheepie doesn't move. He goes and gets his dad and his dad tells him that Sheepie died. They take Sheepie down to the river and bury him, while Owen asks his dad about death. The book ends with the father holding Owen on their porch. Ages: 3-5 Source: Pierce College Library

Sad, but good way to discuss loss of a pet with kids. Think there are better written ones out there though.
