The Heart of Addiction
The Heart of Addiction is for anyone with an "addictive personality." Substance abusers, addicts with a physical dependency, and those who cannot stop some type of pleasurable activity will gain insights and practical help from the hopeful message from the Bible regarding addictive thoughts and behavior. Pastors, Counselors, Rehabilitation Directors, Church Leaders, Family Members, and devoted Christian Friends of the addict will find many optimistic, honest, and specific answers to help those hurting and struggling with the behaviors of an addictive sin nature. All Christians can benefit from reading The Heart of Addiction because it calls all members of the body of Christ to a whole-hearted commitment to love God and others in a deep, meaningful, and radical way.

There is HOPEUser Review - Christianbook.com
I have used this book and accompanying workbook for 2 years in a small group setting in our church. The small group consists of individuals from our Celebrate Recovery, our church's Biblical counseling ministry, and others that want a deeper and more meaningful approach to transforming their lifes. Surprisingly, it is not just addicts or drunkards that attend. Family members also desire a Biblical perspective to the Heart of Addiction. The small group runs for 26 weeks. The Heart of Addiction gives real world instruction based on biblical principles. After all the first recorded drunken binge was Noah. Studying the book, the addict or drunkard learns that their problem is really their sin nature, the same sin nature that has raged in all of mankind since Genesis 3. The world calls it a disease or hereditary and says that there is no hope. The Bible calls it a sin and that there is redeemtion for sin through Christ Jesus, He is their Hope.
