The more enthusiastic of its inhabitants delight in describing it as the -Pearl of the Ocean.- Well, let us call it the -Pearl.- It's a good name. A pearl distilling much sweetness upon the world.

Masterful writing by an author I intend to read much more of. Profoundly perceptive, atmospheric, yet economically worded portrayals of charged human relationships in the sultry and intense Indian Ocean and South China Sea.
