An EXCELLENT book series, ALL of these books are wonderful to own and read.
This one does a good job explaining the historical roots of various philosophical ideas and explores each one lightly with examples.. nothing brain-destroying or anything here but a good introduction.
I dont like much philosophy, I find alot of it to be pedantic and pretty much obvious and useless. But in a historical perspective it really shows the development of human thought, the basics of critical analysis and independent thinking, and even taught me a few things.

After "Sophie's World" by Josten Garder, this book is the best book of philosophy. the writing skill of Ben Dupré will keep the readers of any genre glued with the book. and it is really well-written for the ones who have minimum knowledge about philosophy.
