An absolutely amazing true story of Louie Zamparini and his life and the horrors of the POW camps where he was enslaved. Couldn't put the book down altho the description of the torture and other horrors is very difficult. Jan. 20th, 2011

All I can say is Excellent and Amazing. True stories are the best and this is one of the best. What Louie went through and still lived to talk about it is beyond amazing. You can not put it down once you start.

"Unbroken" is one of my favorite books of the last decade. Here is a classic case where the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. The story telling was magnificent because it pulled together current events and social perspectives from all angles allowing the reader to walk about the story. The story itself, the real life of someone so gregarious and internally powerful lifts the soul to new heights making those who read it want to achieve more.
The story about Louis Zamperini highlighted the deprivation of the war which seems to have either hardened the steel that is a mans will or broke them entirely. I loved the statistical data that Laura Hillenbrand researched to show the amazing odds that Louis overcame in his life.
This book is worth reading so that everyone can understand, for real, exactly where their difficulties lie in the possibilities of life.
