About the author (1990)

Mansour Khalid, Sudan's former foreign secretary, who was born in the North and served as an advisor to John Garang, the Southern Liberation leader, is uniquely placed to write this work. It will be of great historical significance because of the author's firsthand experience of the negotiations and his exclusive access to all the documentation that was produced over the many years of negotiations. He is one of the most preeminent writers on modern Sudan.
