This book gutted me.
The description of how much a man is willing to endure simply to stay alive is harrowing. There is the torture of a life remembered in the midst of his total isolation,his mental and physical nakedness beneath the endless sky and his never sated hunger.
And for what?

I don't know. I only read this because Richard Adams mentions it in Plague Dogs as it served as inspiration for Snitter's confusion between the subjective and objective. But really, Adams did a better job with it. Read full review
