This book presents the fascinating history of a century of tumult in the Catholic Church, in Germany, and in the United States. It is very well-written, informative, and surprisingly straightforward. There is plenty of food for thought for spiritual reflection, for teaching methods, for simple history - of culture and of religion - and several individual figures of great spirit and strength emerge. Highly recommended.
