About the author (2009)

John Feinstein (born July 28, 1956) is an American sportswriter, author and sports commentator. Feinstein is a graduate of Duke University. He was born in New York City and spent many years on the staff at the Washington Post. He has also written for Sports Illustrated and is a visiting professor of Journalism at Duke. His first book, A Season on the Brink, is the bestselling sports book of all time. He is also the author of the New York Times bestseller, Where Nobody Knows Your Name, about minor league baseball.
