A Timeless Warning
An unflinching and insightful look into humanity that seems to grow in relevance year after year.

Mr. Orwell matters.

So boring. Winston is a sick pervert who dreams of this girl and to do sexual things to her then murder her. Makes no since and it is a long book on absolute bullsh!t of a topic. I fell a sleep.

Should be read
Some books are engaging. Others are tough to read, at least at times. 1984 is both. This book should be read by everyone, just like wars should be studied. Great novel

Good book overall. Very good story telling, but became dry when the Brotherhood's book was introduced. Love story worked in perfectly with the book, but felt book was stretched to far in the middle and brought to a close too abruptly at the end. Would still recommend this to others to read!

1984 is a pretty decent book. The message that it portrays applies to society now more than ever. When Orwell wrote the book in 1949, he saw the world heading in a direction in which technology ruled and the people had no rights. Now the world is starting to be controlled by technology, not quite in the way Orwell predicted, but controlled by technology nonetheless. I thought that Orwell did a good job to get his message across and strike fear in his readers. I liked the way that he showed the story through the eyes of a person in the society. I liked how the character, Winston, was not exactly like everyone else, because he actually could remember what it was like before Big Brother's reign. It made the book interesting to read from that perspective because it made me feel like I was in Winston's shoes. When reading I even felt the anger that Winston felt toward Big Brother. Overall I would rate this book as 4 stars out of 5.
