Very simply, this is a journal with lined pages, in a nice size. It's the exact size Cameron herself has used, she claims. There are pages of explanation of morning pages in the front, but they are extremely redundant if one has read the main work, or the companion workbook. Then comes the majority of the book: lined writing pages with a box-quote on every page. I use mine because someone gave it to me, but I'll admit, it's got tiny lines and large pages and I'm used to using legal pads for my morning pages. More than once I've written, "This journal is too big!" That is my own problem, though. Basically, if you must have matching tools, then I suppose this is fine, but there's nothing new or different for those familiar with "The Artist's Way."

Cameron declares that "it is human nature to write" and sets about proving it in this follow-up to her best-selling writing guides, which include The Vein of Gold (LJ 11/1/96). Her first novel, The Dark Room, is coming out from Carroll & Graf this fall.
